On the second-last night of my visit to Tennessee, something beautiful happened. It was one of those moments that reminds me why I love what we do—stopping for the one, listening to the Holy Spirit, and releasing the prophetic over people’s lives.
I was taking an evening walk after dinner—something I love to do. Franklin is stunning, and the weather was perfect. I was enjoying the moment, with a deep sense of joy in the Holy Spirit.
As I wandered down Main Street, I spotted some musicians playing jazz in a cafe window. Being a classical violin, harp, and piano player myself, I couldn’t resist stopping to capture the moment with a photo. A woman was sitting outside, listening to the music, so I politely mentioned I’d love to take a photo, but make sure she wasn’t in the frame. I didn’t want to invade her personal space. She smiled and told me, “I’m sitting here so I can hear the music. My husband’s in there playing. Please feel free.”
With my photo taken, we got chatting, and she shared she was a professional French horn player. With Melbourne’s live music scene having taken such a hit during our two years of lockdown, I was delighted to see live music thriving here in Tennessee. We exchanged stories about music, performance, and the arts.
Then I asked her a simple question: “Can I pray for you?”
She said yes. So we exchanged names. She shared she was a Christian too, and with permission, I held her hand. What started as a prayer of blessing quickly shifted into something more. As I prayed for her healing (she mentioned she was feeling unwell) and for favor in all she did, I began receiving prophetic words. I heard, “Pray for her to finish well.”
I paused. I’d never heard that phrase before, but I went with it.
“I’m getting these words,” I told her. “I feel like I need to pray for you to finish some things well.”
Her response was immediate: “Yes, I have a problem finishing things.”
So I prayed for grace to finish—to complete the projects God had placed on her heart. As I prayed, I sensed something further and more specific stirring in my spirit.
“Are you writing a book?”
Her eyes widened, and I watched the Holy Spirit’s confirmation wash over her face. “Yes! I want to write a book for young French horn students.”
I smiled, recognizing that God-moment when a prophetic word lands exactly right. God was showing off! “Well then,” I said, “it’s clearly important you get that done. God wouldn’t have told me about your writing unless it was important to Him—and to you—that you complete it.”
Right there on that Franklin street, I then released a blessing over her book. I prayed for favor, for completion, for her to step into the anointing of finishing her first book—and then continuing to write more. I told her I’d just finished my first book myself (I Am God’s Happy Place) and I understood the resistance that can come with completing something significant, and I shared how many of my Prophetic Mastery students were experiencing breakthroughs in their writing. A number publishing their first book too. We had all received the grace to finish well, and I trusted she would too, that she would have a grace to finish her book, and the many others God had on His heart for her to complete.
With prayer complete, and with a little further encouragement and chat, I bade her farewell to complete my walk. Delighting in the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit as I went.
My trip was a beautiful kiss from God, and the joy of stopping for the one to bless and encourage topped it off. With three brief words, I can sum it all up!
God is Good!
I share this story because I want you to know something important: moments like these aren’t reserved for the spiritually elite or the super-prophetic. They’re available to every believer who’s willing to stop, listen, and respond. This is what I call a God Is Good Story or a Prophetic Mastery Moment.
It wasn’t difficult to stop for her. It wasn’t complicated to hear the Lord’s voice for her. It was as simple as,
- Stopping and being friendly
- Asking if I could pray
- Listening to what the Holy Spirit was saying
- Responding with what I was hearing
Acts 2:17-18 tells us: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.”
Prophesying is simply recognizing and responding to the voice of God. That’s all it is. He’s talking all the time—to us about other people, to us about ourselves. And He only ever has beautiful, encouraging things to say.
First Corinthians 14:3 reminds us we prophesy to encourage, comfort, and strengthen.
That’s what I did. I listened to God’s heart for this woman as I prayed for her. I released a prophetic word of encouragement. I checked in with her—she confirmed it was her issue—and I prayed for the grace to flow. If I can do it in Franklin, Tennessee, you can do it wherever you are.
I’ve had these moments in Europe, all over Australia, in Los Angeles, Austin, Texas, Franklin, Tennessee—everywhere I travel. Prophetic Mastery Moments aren’t limited by location—they’re available anywhere the Holy Spirit is moving (which is everywhere). And you can have them too!
A Prayer for You:
Now, I want to release this same grace to finish over you.
If you’ve been struggling to finish things God has placed on your heart, I want to pray for you right now:
Father, I bless everyone reading this. I pray for all those struggling to finish—and even those who aren’t struggling but are in the process of completing something. I pray for the grace of heaven to finish well, and I pray for the grace and the joy of heaven to flow through the pens, through the voices, through whatever actions You’re calling Your people to take. Let the grace of heaven flow through Your people to finish things well.
It’s a time to finish things off and to step into new things as well. For those in transition—leaving one season, one community, one job, one place—I bless that transition in Jesus’ name. I release serendipitous God-kisses on your path into the new thing You’re calling them into.
I release not only a grace to finish well but also the grace to step through the transition and to step into the next well. More grace, Lord. More of Your grace so they may run their race well. In Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen!
Here’s what I know: when we complete something and release it into the world, there is so much joy in heaven. And it makes the next thing we have to finish just a little bit easier. There’s a grace to write those books and a grace to finish those projects. A grace to complete those songs—because the new song will usher in the new day. Finish that degree. Finish that creative project. Finish that transition well. Whatever God has placed on your heart—it’s time to finish it.
Your Turn
So, what is it you’re trying to finish? I’d love to hear from you. Drop a comment below and let me know—and let’s celebrate each other as we run this race of Grace together. Because that’s what community does. We look to the left and to the right, and we encourage one another to run our races well. You’re doing a wonderful job. Let’s go, people.
Let’s finish well together remembering always that…
God IS Good!
I have always wanted to create worship music, which also contains in it all the scriptures, important teachings, etc music which would have embedded knowledge which would feed soul and spirit.
I have always dreamed of living out my dual citizenship simultaneously: in heaven and in earth. Jesus said , I am only doing what I see my Father doing.
I encourage you to step in and give it a go 🕺
Beautifully written, Beth. Thank you for carrying Father’s heart into the world! This was a comforting reminder to finish a project the Lord has gifted me. It was all excitement at first but I’ve found myself “despising small beginnings” the more time has gone on. Thanks for helping re-set my gaze! Blessing to you and your ministry!
You are so welcome Cameron! I hear you re the enthusiasm and then the waning 🥹 keep going and get it done! Imperfect, completing and out there in the world is better than perfect, incomplete and hidden 🕺💃🕺
Thanks for sharing this particular God-story, Beth. It struck a chord with me for at least two reasons. I have a life-long challenge with finishing. And I’ve got two writing projects (they might become books) that I’d like to finish one day! As I read and personalised the prayer you wrote, Holy Spirit’s presence was very tangible upon me. So, thank you for writing and sharing! 😊🎁🙏🏻
Hey my friend thank you for reading and the encouragement! We need what you carry—imperfect complete and out there blessing others is better than perfect incomplete 🥰 that sums up my first book and into the next 🤭😆✍️💝
Thanks for sharing this Beth, I receive your prayer for grace and a finishing anointing for my PhD degree.Thank you
Absolutely!
In agreement with you 💝🌸
